This week we explore the pretty historic village of Furneux Pelham. Stretch your legs with a 6 mile/ 10k circular walk in well-wooded countryside. Moderately hilly, the walk takes you along clear tracks and country lanes including sections of the Harcamlow Way and Hertfordshire Way.
The walk starts near Patmore Heath nature reserve at Albury, an 18 acre Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Pass by the historically named Ypres and Suez Woods. Visit 13th century St Mary the Virgin church with its beautiful ceiling featuring colourful angels, and stained glass windows by William Morris. Notice the Hertfordshire pudding stone protecting the 19th century Brewery Tap pub, an ideal stop for coffee or lunch. The Catherine Wheel is another pub near the start and finish of the walk.
