This week we explore the village of Westmill with a quiet lane walk and a choice of refreshments in a cosy tea room or gastropub – or both if you are feeling hungry!
Westmill is one of the many hamlets and villages in what is known as the Hundred Parishes – a large, attractive, gently-undulating area of around 450 square miles, which includes north east Hertfordshire. This area is home to:
- Over 6,000 listed buildings
- A remarkable concentration of pre-1700 architecture
- Grade I-listed churches, village greens & conservation areas
- Ancient field patterns, woodland & winding sunken lanes
- Abundant wildlife & rich agricultural heritage
Nature
Enjoy a 4.2 miles / 7km long circular walk along quiet country lanes through open countryside on high ground. The perfect way to soak up fresh air, big skies and rural views!
The walk is brought to you with thanks to The Hundred Parishes Society. Simply download the pdf for detailed instructions including historical and interesting features and an extract from the OS map.
